Be careful on steep slopes with soft and wet snow, natural released avalanches are possible here. Keep distance to cornices and areas with glide-cracks.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Store deler av snødekket er smelteomvandlet og homogent. I forrige uke har det kommet nysnø i høyfjellet med varierende snøgrense som nå er godt avrundet etter flere dager med sol og sterk varme.

Det er fortsatt mye snø i fjellet. Snøgrensa er omtrent på 500 moh, høyere i sørvendte hellinger.

Observasjoner fra Strynefjellet mandag viser kald lagdelt fokksnø som fortsatt kan påvirkes i nordvendte heng. I solsider ligger 20 cm våt nysnø.

2-3 mm precipitation. Rain up to 1800 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from southeast. 0 °C to 8 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 20. May 2022

4 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1900 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from southeast. -4 °C to 10 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Om sola titter fram vil det føre til en økt oppvarming av snøoverflaten. Det vil være lett for skikjørere å løse ut mindre våte løssnøskred i bratt terreng.

Delvis oppklarning natt til fredag gir mulighet for lokal nattefrost over 1200-1400 moh i regionen.

Hold god avstand til alle skavler som svekkes i varmen.

Glideskred er uforutsigbare og kan løsne av seg selv hele døgnet. Unngå opphold under glidesprekker.
